"As an artist I am continuously striving to be fully aware of, and respond to, the world in a unique and unconventional way. Looking out my bedroom window, I see a complex network of pattern and structure within the tree branches. I paint with the awareness of this space and its philosophical implications, the invisible and swollen emptiness. As some part of everything, the unseen disappears into this space.

My paintings begin, and aim to end, with the internal feeling that I get from being outside in nature and becoming one with it. It is this feeling inside that wakes me up to be more aware of my existence. For me, looking at a great work of art can evoke the same feeling. The colors in my paintings come from mixing different pigments till the strength of each pigment comes through. It is at that point that I feel that the color is ready to be applied to my working surface.

I have worked on paper and canvas with gouache, water colors, oil paints, acrylics etc... My studies and experiences in printmaking have greatly expanded my knowledge of materials. Using different mediums and materials to make an image creates a dialogue between material and maker. It is essential that this dialogue is present in order for me to begin my work towards an image. This Image then evokes an unexpected change of emotions. It is not always a comfortable experience but an unusually clear one. This clarity comes while making a work of art and also while looking at one. It is a different level of consciousness that one
touches with this experience. It heightens the physical senses
and awakens the inside— the soul."
